The RM Solutions Outreach Service has been providing Medway Schools and Families with expertise in the field of Autism since 2015. Our aim is to enable schools and nurseries to continue to support pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions in their existing schools. Support is often bespoke and can include modelling strategies, creating resources, and providing additional information and training to staff, meeting with parents and cooperating with other experts and specialists to obtain the best outcomes for the child.
Our service covers school-based Nursery including PVI settings, Primary and Secondary phases and is provided for an initial 12 weeks at which point we review impact and agree a way forward. Support at key points of a pupil’s school life, such as during transition from primary to secondary provision, is also available. As a pupil becomes more able to discuss their own needs Outreach staff may also meet with pupils to discuss concerns that they may have, such as preparing for examinations. This will always be undertaken following safeguarding procedures.
We also provide CPD to upskill teachers, middle and senior leaders, support staff and non-teaching staff in developing an inclusive environment within your school.
Whilst we do not support students within the home, we are happy to offer advice to schools for pupils who may be experiencing difficulties at home or in attending schools. We have previously met with groups of parents, within their child’s school setting, to support them to understand their child’s needs and offer further information and suggest resources. We would be happy to continue to provide this opportunity to parents in the future, at the school’s request.
We wish to provide our schools with effective support which will make the most difference to the child in question. If that means adapting, being flexible and bespoking our service offer, then within reason, that is what we will try to do.
